So close to Christmas!

--Snow on the banks of 'the Jordan'--

A mere five days separate me from the holidays. I am eager, impatient even, to return to the ancestral halls and see those therein. In the meantime, I've been doing schoolwork and observing the weather. It snowed a few times last week, as you can see in the picture. But thankfully for those of us who didn't have warm jackets, it hasn't been too cold for the most part.

But seeing snow--actual snow!--did motivate me to go buy a winter coat. I'd been putting this off because I don't know what to look for in a coat. But today Emily and I went down to College Mall, and with her invaluable expertise we found a very nice coat. Warm, wool, pockets, neutral color, long in the sleeves--all that (apparently) is necessary in a winter coat.

Some people take this winter clothes thing a bit too far if you ask me!

Thanksgiving and Birthday

It is pretty busy just now. I finished up my Kierkegaard paper, but my Humean Manners paper still lies before me. But despite this, dear readers, I take the time to give you an update on my life. Ah, am I not self-sacrificing?

--Emily lights birthday cupcakes--

Well, yesterday was my birthday. Emily made me cupcakes and we had a few friends over to celebrate. Most of the time was tea and talking, though trying to light the candles with only an electric stove made for an exciting interlude! Anyway, no one was injured and as far as I could tell a jolly evening was had by all.

--During a walk at Wheaton--

I know I never told you about my Thanksgiving visit with my sisters. It was lots of fun to see Adelle in her natural habitat, as it were, and to meet her friends. It was also great to get to hear Elissa talk about her Toronto experiences. We took many morning walks around the college and to the neighboring towns.

My Kierkegaard paper cast a shadow over the visit (it was due during the break) but even with the stress of that (and even with the inconvenience of getting up at 4:40 am to return!) the visit was definitely worth it. I can hardly wait to continue the family revelry at Christmas!
